Amazon is considering creating a campus-style office hub in Manchester's Northern Quarter, the Manchester Evening News reports.
The online retail giant is reported to be close to agreeing a 91K SF leasing deal at Hermes' Hanover Building, part of the NOMA development in the city's tech-and-media dominated Northern Quarter.
It was reported in August that Amazon was looking for Manchester floorspace and there is now the suggestion that the 91K SF deal is a prelude to a larger campus-style development.
An Amazon campus could boost the Northern Quarter in the same way that Google's plans for a "landscraper" campus in London is to anchor the transformation of the King's Cross area.
Noma's 20-acre site could provide a location. Noma is now in the hands of Hermes Investment Managers following a pre-Christmas buy-out of The Co-Op Group's interests in the development.
Neither letting agents JLL nor Hermes would comment on the potential Hanover deal, and Amazon did not respond to a request
