SIM Group Consolidating Digital Properties on Kodak's Hollywood Campus

The SIM Group’s post-production arm is moving in April to Eastman Kodak’s campus at 1017 N Palmas Ave in Hollywood, consolidating all three companies under one roof. The three companies, Chainsaw Productions, SIM Digital and Bling Digital, have a total of 100 employees. SIM has signed a 10-year lease for 65k SF, bringing the building to 100% occupancy. According to sources, the deal is worth nearly $45M. Built in 1999, Kodak’s three-story, 110k SF building was recently renovated by owner Lincoln Property.

Chainsaw Productions, which does post-production for shows like Game of Thrones and American Idol, is relocating from 30k SF at 940 N Orange Dr in Hollywood but will retain 9k SF at 7017 Santa Monica Blvd in West Hollywood. SIM and Bling are currently sharing a 10k SF space at 738 N Cahuenga Blvd in Hollywood.

Hollywood has become the preferred location for media and tech companies involved in the entertainment industry. Netflix recently signed a lease at Sunset Bronson Studios, formerly Warner Bros, at Sunset and Gower, and Buzzfeed has relocated its video department to Siren Studios at 6063 Sunset. Viacom is also consolidating its five cable properties—MTV, Comedy Channel, VH1, BET and Spike TV—in 180k SF at Kilroy Realty’s new media village, Columbia Square, also at the intersection of Sunset and Gower.
