Google is planning to take 29K SF at 52 East Henry St., adjacent to Little Caesars Arena in Downtown Detroit. The tech giant will move more than 100 employees into the space in the spring of 2018, the Detroit News reports.
The move follows word in October that Google would be moving from the Detroit suburbs to the city.
“The City of Detroit has a rich history of culture and innovation, and we’re excited to be a part of its world-class talent and world-class companies,” Google officials said in a statement.
The move also represents an expansion from the 17K SF space the company now occupies in Birmingham. Google has been in that space for about 10 years.
Google also has more than 400 employees in Ann Arbor. That is the location of its AdWords unit, the company’s main advertising vehicle. All together there are more than 600 Google employees in Michigan.
