Los Angeles-based Hayman Properties is renovating the Speer Office Center and rebranding it to fall under the Vibe Art District name.

The Denver property, at the edge of the Art District on Santa Fe, is the ninth Vibe location for Hayman Properties and its first in Colorado. In keeping with its connection to the art district, the highlight of the remodel is the artist-curated murals going up on the exterior of the building.

The largest mural, which will cover the entire northeast-facing wall, will be a colorful pug dog. A butterfly mural will grace the wall facing 14th Avenue. Both works are by Los Angeles artist Robert Moore. Denver artists Jason Garcia and Stephen Kruse will contribute to the art displayed in the lobby, as well as design brick inserts on the building’s exterior.

Renovations to the 134,643 SF office building at 1391 Speer Blvd. will include transforming the lobby into a gallery that will exhibit the work of local artists. The corridors on the second and third floors will will be updated and include local art pieces.

“We believe this building deserved a name that embodies the essence of the community surrounding it,” Hayman Properties CEO Robert Hayman said. “The Vibe brand molds perfectly into the Santa Fe Art District, and we look forward to integrating our concepts with the local art scene.”

Other improvements include new, dimmable LED lighting in all corridors and stairwells, refreshed landscaping both at the corner of 14th Avenue and Speer Boulevard and the second-level terrace, a coworking space to be built-out on the fourth floor, bike storage and updated restrooms.

Vibe Art District will host a public event from 5:30-9:30 p.m. June 1 as part of the Santa Fe Art District First Friday event. The event will offer a first look at renderings of the building’s mural and other updates.
