Mystery Surrounds Hudson Yards H-E-B

Though H-E-B agreed to start construction on a Hudson Yards store at U.S. 180 and Lakeshore Drive by the end of this year, the San Antonio grocer has no timeline to start construction, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

H-E-B originally agreed to the 2017 timeline as part of a deal to set aside $3.5M in future sales taxes to fund streets and infrastructure, Hudson Oaks city administrator Patrick Lawlerthe said. H-E-B spokeswoman Mabrie Jackson said the land will be maintained in advance of future needs.

Jackson also confirmed the grocery giant entered into a deal with Chick-fil-A for an outparcel. Earlier in April, Chick-fil-A announced it would open a restaurant on that corner in Q2 2018. 

The parent company of Central Market owns an estimated 30 tracts of land through the Metroplex

In August, H-E-B purchased six former Minyards Sunfresh stores across Dallas, Grapevine and McKinney, sparking speculation the grocer would finally make moves to establish roots in North Texas. The company has since announced that two of the locations (at Northwest Highway and Midway Road, and McKinney and Lemmon avenues in Dallas) will become Central Markets. The remaining sites have been or will be sold or leased
