| The associates and employees of Henry S. Miller avoided Grinch status by chartering a bus on Dec. 10 for a road trip to the Fisher House in Dallas. Almost three dozen HSM staffers delivered the stockpile of donations plucked from the Fisher House Family Wish List. Among the contributions: gift cards, toys, household products, and Blu-ray/DVD players. While at the Fisher House, HSM employees took the opportunity to meet with some of the families staying there while their loved ones were in the hospital. HSM staffers were put to work organizing holiday donations. | |
| One of our Bisnow buddies (we have elves of our own) snapped HSM EVP Jim Turano (a US Marine Corps Vietnam vet) with Catherine Sheeran, a US Navy Medical Corps vet. The pair waxed on about their days in the service. Catherine (aka The World’s Greatest Mimi) spent a good portion of her service attending to Marine Corps units. “A lot of people don't actually realize how much a wounded veteran's family endures. The Fisher House Foundation is a wonderful organization that helps alleviate a lot of the burden," Jim tells us. "I am so proud that our company, through our time and donations, are helping the Fisher House Foundation this holiday season.” | |
| Fisher House program manager Lydia Henderson and HSM’s Missy Hodges take a breather from the work. Lydia says the Fisher House is a home away from home on the VA North Texas Healthcare campus in South Dallas. The Fisher House Foundation offers free temporary lodging for families of VA patients and includes 21 suites with common kitchen area, laundry facilities, dining room, living room, library, and picnic pavilion. Lydia says the Texans, as well as residents of other states (we call them eventual Texans) have been great supporters of Fisher House. |
