Smoothie King is expanding in Cincinnati in a big way, with plans for 16 new juice bars in the area. Mason-based Smoothie King franchisee SK Midwest will open the stand-alone, drive-through stores over the next five years, Cincinnati.com reports.
The existing Smoothie King locations in greater Cincinnati are all in malls and strip centers, and owned by other franchisees. According to SK Midwest Senior Vice President Mario Nocero, the convenience of the drive-thru windows will attract customers and help the new stores penetrate the market faster.
SK Midwest is at work on one of the locations now, a Smoothie King next to Jungle Jim's International Market in Fairfield. It will open in December. Three more locations are slated to open by the end of 2018, with the rest in the four or so years after that.
Louisiana-based Smoothie King Franchises Inc. has more than 750 locations in the U.S., the Caymans, Singapore and South Korea. The franchise also offers sports beverages, energy bars and vitamin supplements.
