Matthew Sports Complex Phase 2 Kicks Off

Work has started on the Mecklenburg County Regional Sports Complex at Matthews Phase 2, with JD Goodrum Co building the facility for Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation and the City of Matthews. New additions to the facility include upgrades to the existing athletic fields plus 73 acres of new site development. Phase 1 of the $32M project (pictured) is open and includes five multi-purpose fields, a shelter area and a playground built in tribute to the lives lost in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack.
