CRD GETS GREEN WITH KIDS

Two Catawba River District schools hope to build math and science skills by teaching students to farm. Whitewater Academy and Whitewater Middle School are working with the Catawba River District and Rivendell Farms of Huntersville to launch a working-farm learning lab beside the adjacent schools. The mixed-use Catawba River District development is a 17,000-acre site on the Catawba River just northwest of Charlotte. The volunteer org was created by public and private groups about six years ago; the CRD attempts to demonstrate sustainable building  and development practices.
