London-based residential developer Hub is to debut in Birmingham with the acquisition of the 6-acre Digbeth bus garage site.

Hub, who are active on large-scale schemes in Wembely and Croydon, will develop the site once coach operator National Express find a new garage location.

The site is close to the Grand Union Canal, and is one of Digbeth's most alluring residential development prospects.

The Hub proposal will include workspace and leisure/retail uses, Birmingham Live reports.

Digbeth started 2019 with a raft of new development proposals, and is turning into one of Birmingham's leading property success stories. BTR developers are attracted by its cool potential, with SevernCapital's plans for a 770-unit scheme including a 27-storey tower leading the way.

“Digbeth has recently been listed as one of the coolest places to live by The Times, but through Connaught Square and the wider future regeneration works currently in planning or construction within the area, we want to make sure that it goes beyond cool, to become one of the best places in the UK," SevenCapital Director Damien Silver said.

Digbeth could also be in line for a series of attention-grabbing projects including a £500M studio complex to help produce content for Netflix.
