Coventry had a bad war. The cathedral was destroyed and large swathes of the medieval city razed, including Corporation Street in November 1940 bombings. Now one developer is pulling the road back together 80 years after the Blitz.

Complex Development Projects is tackling two of Corporation Street's bomb sites, one of a handful in the city still pending permanent redevelopment.

CDP is already behind the transformation of the Coventry Evening Telegraph building into a hotel.

It will develop 40 apartments on a site close to the junction of Well Street and Corporation Street, and on a second site next to the Belgrade Theatre it will build 16 apartments. Taking advantage of the post-war architecture, now back in fashion, the building will be branded as The Mid-Century Apartments, Business Desk reports.

The new 88-bed hotel in the Telegraph building, also proudly displaying its post-war design, will be operated by CDP Bespoke Hotels and is due to open in autumn 2020. The scheme also includes 1,270 student flats developed at the rear of the site by Olympian Homes.
