Ellicott City businesses looking to rebuild after the deadly July flash flood can expect improved infrastructure going forward.
Howard County executive Allan Kittleman (pictured) announced $3.8M in funds that will go toward six flood remediation projects, the Baltimore Sun reports. Some of the funds will be used to reconstruct several walls in downtown Ellicott City, including one behind Precious Gifts and another behind Ellicott Mills Brewing Co.
The flood, which brought six inches of rain in two hours, decimated many Ellicott City businesses and temporarily shut down Main Street. It reopened Oct. 6; many bars, restaurants and retail shops are welcoming customers again.
The flood remediation projects could begin by the end of the year and be completed by summer 2017. [Sun]
