The City of Austin selected Gensler (pictured, director David Epstein) to design the expansion of the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport's east terminal gate. The project will add 70k SF, increasing the terminal by 23% and adding seven or eight aircraft parking spaces, boosting operational capacity about 30%. The work includes lobby renovations, infrastructure and security improvements, new business center space, concessions, restrooms and concourse circulation space, as well as public art. This isn't Gensler's first rodeo at ABIA--it was the associate architect under Page on the Barbara Jordan Terminal in 1999.
