Goodbye Smith's Olde Bar?

Goodbye Smith's Olde Bar? An auction notice for 1576-1590 Piedmont Ave, the 18k SF urban retail strip that includes the famous bar and concert venue in Morningside indicates the property is being sold for a potential redevelopment. That could displace the famed Atlanta concert venue, according to Tomorrow's News Today. Built in 1925, the property had been owned by the Taylor family for more than 80 years, but since Beverly Anne Taylor passed away this year, the property is being marketed for auction this August. The fate of Smith's won't be known until after the sale and the intentions of the new owner are made known. But the package reportedly has a line that reads, "Smith’s Olde Bar is currently an at will tenant and has received a 60 day notice to vacate, which is in dispute. The Ownership is working to resolve this ongoing issue." [TONT]
