Atlanta's newest player in the fried chicken arena is headed to Sandy Springs. But its entry means saying goodbye to a longtime local wingery favorite. Gus's Chicken secured its second Atlanta location outside of Peachtree Center at 6518 Roswell Rd. Specifically, this small strip center right off Roswell Road is home to Clay's Sports Grill, famed in the area for its chicken wings. Mitcham & Associates' Michael Mitcham tells us Gus's will take over Clay's  space. Skyline Seven Real Estate repped the landlord.

Michael tells us this location will be among the handful of Atlanta locations ultimately planned for the fried chicken eatery. Working with the metro franchisee for Gus's, Michael says he's seeking areas with strong daytime work populations and good family household numbers. “We prefer older buildings possessing a certain character so we can emulate the down-home and approachable feel that speaks of Gus's,” he says. Possible areas include College Park, Westside Atlanta, Old Fourth Ward, Grant Park and even the Cumberland/Galleria area.
