Clay's may be saved to serve its famous buffalo wings another day in Sandy Springs.

Numerous sources tell us the esteemed wingery, which has recently been displaced by Gus's Fried Chicken at its longtime Sandy Springs home in a small strip center at 6518 Roswell Road, is in talks with The Simpson Organization to relocate to Hammond Springs. “We've come to terms, but we're still negotiating the lease,” says Simpson's Clayton Gunter.

We first reported on plans to replace the beloved Clay's with the fried chicken chain Gus's. Clay's is now officially closed, as a sign on the door thanks customers “for your 20+ years of support and loyalty,” and hints that it will open again soon. A call to the number leads to a recorded message where a Clay's official announces it plans to open at Hammond Springs, the 69k SF shopping center at the corner of Hammond Drive and Roswell Road next to Lowe's Home Improvements and the popular vegetarian restaurant Cafe Sunflower.
