Trader Joe’s is coming to the Essex Crossing megaproject (pictured) on the Lower East Side.

Located at the foot of the Williamsburg Bridge at 145 Clinton St, the grocer's 11th NYC location will open in 2018 and occupy 30k SF at the base of a 211-unit residential building, Crain’s reports. The length and price per SF of the deal weren't disclosed.

More than 30k SF of retail remains available in the building. Planet Fitness is slated to fit in the space, paying $100/SF, and the developers—a JV of L + M Development Partners, Taconic Investment Partners, BFC Partners and nonprofit Grand Street Settlement—have been in talks with other retailers.

Essex Crossing was approved near the end of Michael Bloomberg’s stint as mayor, and will include 1,000 new apartments, eight buildings, retail and commercial space including a movie theater, a NYU Langone medical facility and a Grand Street Settlement-run community center. [Crain’s]
