Bisnow Reports: SL Green Unveils Tallest Student Housing Building in the World

At 34 stories, SL Green just unveiled the tallest residence hall in the world at Pace University in downtown Manhattan, officially opening its doors for 770 lucky upperclassmen

"I think lower Manhattan is going through the same thing Pace is going through, which is a tremendous renewal," Pace University President Stephen J. Friedman tells Bisnow

Gene Kaufman Architects designed the glass-and-brick tower with stunning views of the World Trade Center and the East River. (SL Green also developed Pace's nearby 182 Broadway residence hall in 2013.)

In tune with the luxury student housing trend, the new 172k SF building, which took 20 months to build, features a state-of-the-art gym, a chef's kitchen and a 3k SF public plaza.

Stephen says the innovative dorm—"a living learning center,"—will attract more students and continue to shape the ongoing transformation of Lower Manhattan. "And those students will become an integral part of this city," he says.
