IKEA is in talks with Clay Development & Construction to lease 1M SF of distribution buildings at Cedar Port Industrial Park, a nearly 11,000-acre industrial park near the Port of Houston. The center would be IKEA's first distribution center on the Gulf Coast, serving stores in Dallas, Round Rock and Houston.
Nothing has been finalized and it's unclear whether IKEA is looking at other areas, the Houston Business Journal reports. The company recently broke ground on a similar 1.25M SF facility in Joliet, IL. IKEA operates more than 380 stores in 48 countries. It has 41 retail stores in the US. [HBJ]
