Ikea Coming To Nashville?

Placeholder

Swedish retailer Ikea, which took a pass on Nashville in 2014 in favor of Memphis, is reportedly doing site selection in Nashville.

The firm is looking for what it usually looks for in an American city: visibility from a highway, easy access to the property, and other traffic-generating attractions nearby, not to mention a large piece of land.

Ikea is thus scouting sites on I-40, I-24 and I-65 in Nashville, says the Tennessean. A typical US Ikea ranges from 250k SF to 400k SF, on as much as 35 acres. Incentives are also a factor. In the case of Memphis, the retailer was given a more than $9M tax break for developing a 271k SF store there, its first in Tennessee, which will open this fall. [Tennessean]
