Placeholder

Leisure occupiers are racing into Ancoats as the area's reputation as Northern Quarter 2.0 gathers pace.

The disclosure that no less than nine new eateries are signed up for the district comes just days after it was disclosed that Ancoats now has an office market take-up of 85K SF a year - making it one of the top five office locations outside the city core.

The new bars, restaurants and artisan bakeries include an outlet of King Street-based Spanish favorite El Gato Negro.

Manchester Confidential reports that Manchester Life's Cutting Room Square — the residential development and new public space next to the Halle Orchestra's St Peter's rehearsal and performance venue — is the focus of much of the activity.

The 158-unit Sawmill Court, also developed by Manchester Life and due for completion this summer, has also claimed a number of new lettings.

Manchester Life is a partnership between the Abu Dhabi United Group and Manchester City Council.

New arrivals include artisan bakery and award-winning coffee shop Trove, sourdough bakery Pollen, funky fish bar Hip Hop Chip Shop and Altrincham's Sugo Pasta Kitchen.
