A top-rated Indian-Pakistani restaurant acquired a 47K SF warehouse in Sugar Land and plans to open a separate takeout-only location.

Aga’s Restaurant & Catering will open Aga’s To Go in the Grand Crossing collection of shopping centers in Katy on Wednesday, the Houston Business Journal reported. The halal restaurant signed the 4,290 SF lease for 102 W. Grand Parkway S., Suite 100, last fall.

Aga’s To Go will accept online, call-in and walk-in orders. This is only the second location for Aga’s, which opened at 11842 Wilcrest Drive in Southwest Houston in 2001. The new spot will have a pared-down version of the original menu, featuring 108 items from the original restaurant’s 225.

The restaurant already does substantial takeout business and thought this model would be sustainable and offer consistent customer service, Zain Maredia, head of growth and strategy for Aga’s, told the HBJ.

The restaurant also does significant catering business, catering about 10 to 15 weddings and events each weekend, he said. Aga’s has outgrown the kitchen at its 16K SF restaurant, prompting it to buy a 47K SF warehouse to be its commissary kitchen.

Aga’s Commissary Kitchen will be at 140 Industrial Blvd. in Sugar Land, and the build-out is expected to cost $1.5M, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing.

The kitchen, slated for operation early next year, could double the restaurant’s catering capacity.

“We have to turn down a lot of events just because we don't want to compromise on quality and consistency of our food,” Maredia said. “This facility will allow us to take on those additional events.”

Aga’s has earned recognition from food writers and numerous accolades, including being named the Houston Chronicle’s No. 1 Houston restaurant in 2025.
