Apple Relocating Downtown Store to 401 N Michigan
Apple announced it's moving its downtown Chicago flagship from 679 N Michigan to 401 N Michigan. The store will be built mostly below ground in a former food court and would have an entrance accessible via the 35-story building's street level at Pioneer Court. The popularity of nearby Millennium Park as a tourist attraction has increased foot traffic and new development around the area. The new store would extend Michigan Avenue's retail focus south, according to Crain's. Apple has flirted with moving for years and Zeller Realty Group, which owns 401 N Michigan, has wanted to redevelop the basement space Apple will call home. [Crain's]
