Laptops for Low-Income Residents

Placeholder

Low-income Montgomery County residents will be able to buy laptops through a pilot program being run by the Housing Opportunities Commission. Executive director Stacy Spann will announce it today in Stewartown, a Gaithersburg housing development. Residents living in the community’s 100 units can get a laptop, chosen by the housing authority and provided by Acer or CDW, that they’ll pay for through interest-free payments. The commission tested the program with its employees and saw two-thirds participate. Stacy says he’s hoping this will help address tech inequality in the county.
