San Diego is in the grip of renovation fever, and Pacific Building Group president Jim Roherty says that most of it is geared toward creative office space. Jim adds that many of these projects are ground-up spec, and that the market is seeing an increase in an owner/user combination and TI (tenant improvements). Smaller tech companies on their way up are also buying buildings, then upgrading them and moving in. As well, traditional businesses like law firms and accounting firms are looking to move and get cooler; a few short years ago, this would not have been on the radar.
