U.S. Investors That Make The Most Of European Funds Are Those That Understand The Market

Around the globe, economies have experienced unprecedented inflation, interest rate hikes, tariff volatility and a pandemic, which have all driven uncertainty. However, despite the turbulence of recent years, investors looking to establish funds in Europe are in a good place, said Michael Johnson, Gen II chief commercial officer, Europe. 

“Despite huge macroeconomic changes, nothing is really broken — the fundamentals for investing are there,” he said. “There’s plenty of dry powder, and most economies aren’t in recession. So when dealmaking comes back, and we think it will come back strong, firms need to be ready with the right understanding of rules and regulations.”

U.S. investors are looking to raise capital to deploy in Europe across a number of sectors in particular, Johnson said.
