A development group that includes Chesterfield-based HDA Architects is planning a 33-story apartment tower at 300 South Broadway in Downtown St. Louis across from Busch Stadium.

The developers have submitted preliminary plans for the project to the city's Preservation Board, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Currently a much smaller building, owned by St. Louis Community College, is on the site. It would be razed to make way for the apartment development.

The area is a hot one for multifamily development. Work is about to begin nearby on the second phase of Ballpark Village, which will include a 297-unit apartment building, along with office, retail, restaurant and entertainment space.

CORRECTION, DEC. 15, 1:12 P.M. ET: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated a rendering for the planned apartment tower near Busch Stadium does not exist. The story has been updated.
