LANDFILL TO INFILL
Is it possible we're not the garbage producing machines we once thought we were? ROEM Corp’s Brookwood Terrace, an affordable apartment project which opened on Monday in San Jose, was built on an underutilized landfill just east of Downtown. Built to LEED Gold specs, the new 84-unit, three-story project (which also includes subterranean parking) was designed by KTGY Group . The $25Meffort was developed by ROEM and the nonprofit Eden Housing in collaboration with the City. Financing included 4% low-income housing tax credits and tax-exempt bond financing, and a loan of up to $8M from San Jose. Oh, and please recycle this newsletter when you're done reading.
