The Chevy Chase Land Co has filed a site plan amendment that will see two of the company’s high-profile shopping centers be rebranded and reconfigured.

The company submitted the application to the Montgomery County Planning Board last week. The amendment centers on The Collection at Chevy Chase and the adjacent Chevy Chase Center, both of which will be rebranded under the name “The Collection,” Bethesda Magazine reports.

The shopping centers are on Wisconsin Avenue, just north of the Friendship Heights Metro station and the DC border. Plans call for a reconfiguration that will include the creation of smaller shops and restaurant spaces in the existing buildings. The site plan app also calls for several architectural, parking and public space changes, all of which are geared towards improving foot traffic and enhancing the center’s presence in the area.

Current tenants at the shopping centers, which opened to much fanfare in 2006, include a roster of luxury brands, including Cartier, Gucci and Jimmy Choo. With new kids on the block such as CityCenterDC now in the mix to compete for the almighty retail dollar, a reboot of the centers could help to drum up some more interest from area residents. [BM]
