Craft beer fans in Montgomery County will soon have some new local offerings to sip on.

Later this month, Saints Row Brewing will open at 1211-1213 Taft St. in Rockville. Saints Row founder Tony Prebula worked with Transwestern's Ethan Bernardi and Nathan Bortnick to lease the 3K SF space.

Prebula, a Rockville native, began home-brewing as a hobby in 2010. He then attended brewing school and worked for two years as head brewer at Baltimore's Union Craft Brewing.

Saints Row will feature a retail store and a tasting room, offering three traditional beers and three seasonal beers. Prebula is planning joint events with other local businesses, including organic coffee producer Mayorga Organics.

“I’m excited to be doing what I love and investing in the city I love and grew up in with my wife and daughter by my side,” Prebula said. “We hope Saints Row can be a catalyst for all our friends and neighbors to rediscover everything our community has to offer.”

Meanwhile in Silver Spring, two brewers signed a letter of intent Monday to open a 10K SF brewery at Silver Spring Metro Plaza. The 31-year-old, 881K SF mixed-use complex at 8401 Colesville Road sits steps from the Silver Spring Metro station and is owned by Brookfield Properties.

Parallel World Brewing Co., founded by Christian Layke and Brett Robison, will include production facilities, a taproom and an outdoor beer garden. The brewers are aiming for a fall 2018 opening, local blog Source of the Spring reports.

Layke was previously the head brewer at Gordon Biersch in Rockville, and he interned at District Chophouse before that. Robison previously worked as general manager at Republic in Takoma Park, as bar manager at D.C. coffeehouse Tryst and at brew lounge Vintage 50 in Leesburg.
