D.C.'s restaurant scene has shifted east in recent years, and ride-sharing apps are helping people check out new spots in buzzy neighborhoods not directly on the Metro.

The number of Lyft rides taken to Ivy City, a neighborhood with several hot new restaurants, increased by 250% from June 2016 to June 2017, the Washington City Paper reports.

The recent rebirth of Ivy City, sparked by Douglas Development's Hecht Warehouse project, has led to new restaurants popping up, such as La Puerta Verde, Ivy City Smokehouse, Big Chief and Ari's Diner. The neighborhood is not easily accessible by Metro, but apps like Uber and Lyft have driven business to these spots.

Two other Northeast D.C. neighborhoods not directly on the Metro have also had sharp increases in ride-sharing traffic. Lyft rides to H Street NE, which has seen tons of new development and restaurant openings, increased by 140% year over year. Union Market, also a hot destination for foodies, had a 120% increase in Lyft traffic.
