Founding Farmers has signed a lease at a new development for its first restaurant in Alexandria. Expected to open in summer 2024, the location will be the eighth eatery in the mid-Atlantic and the third in Virginia for the local restaurant group.

The 9,200 SF restaurant will be situated in Oakville Triangle, a 12.3-acre development from local developer Stonebridge in the Potomac Yard neighborhood. Potomac Yard last month welcomed a new Metro station, and developments have been moving forward around the Yellow Line stop.
The restaurant will slot into the ground floor of one of Oakville Triangle's multifamily buildings, a seven-story property at the corner of Swann Avenue and Richmond Highway.
“Oakville has been designed to create a community and realize the tremendous walking connectivity between Del Ray and Potomac Yard,” Stonebridge principal Doug Firstenberg said in a press release Wednesday.
“Having Founding Farmers anchor our retail area fits perfectly into our vision, and the wide range of offerings will be amazing for our residents and the neighborhood.”
Oakville Triangle broke ground in 2021. The first phase will include a 94K SF Inova health care facility, 571 multifamily units, 84 townhomes, a 103K SF self-storage facility, 37K SF of retail and a park. Founding Farmers is the project's first retail tenant.
The Farmers Restaurant Group last opened one of its American-fare eateries in Reston in 2018. It has another location in Tysons, three in the District, one at the King of Prussia Mall in Pennsylvania and another in Montgomery County, Maryland.
