The D.C. region's tallest vending machine has just opened in Montgomery County, but there won't be any candy.

Carvana Tuesday unveiled its eight-story vending machine for cars at 15710 Shady Grove Road in Gaithersburg.

The glass tower holds 30 vehicles and is fully automated. Buyers who purchase cars online can retrieve their vehicle from the machine with an oversized, commemorative coin.

The Phoenix-based company has rolled out the concept in nine other cities: Houston, Austin, San Antonio and Dallas in Texas; Nashville, Tennessee; Raleigh and Charlotte in North Carolina; and Jacksonville and Tampa in Florida. The company also offers next-day vehicle delivery to buyers, a service it launched in D.C. in 2016.

Picking up a car at the vending machine comes at no additional cost and includes a seven-day return policy. Carvana is even helping buyers experience the concept in markets where it hasn't opened, offering to subsidize $200 in airfare and arrange transportation from Dulles International Airport.
