A London-based satellite company is taking a chunk of Tysons office space near the Greensboro Metro station that Science Applications International Corp. will soon vacate.

OneWeb signed a sublease with SAIC for nearly 86K SF at 1785 Greensboro Station Place and plans to lease the space directly from the landlord, The Meridian Group, after SAIC's 2020 expiration, the Washington Business Journal reports.

Backed by Japan's SoftBank Group, OneWeb seeks to use its satellite network to deliver cheap internet service around the globe. The London-based company also has offices in Rockledge, Florida, and Mountain View, California. SAIC, which sold its headquarters to The Meridian Group in 2013, is moving in 2020 to 12010 Sunset Hills Road in Reston.

The Meridian Group is also the lead developer behind The Boro, the 4.2M SF development that has topped out next to the Greensboro Metro station. It is partnering with Rockefeller Group for the 20-story Boro Tower office building and with Kettler for the residential component, which will include 677 units in the first phase and 1,500 units at full build-out. The project will be anchored by the region's largest Whole Foods and a 15-screen Showplace ICON Theatre.
