On Wednesday, Whole Foods announced plans to take up 70k SF at the Meridian Group's The Boro. The 18-acre SAIC campus redevelopment in Tysons has yet to be approved, but if it goes forward, this Whole Foods will be the largest in DC, and one of the largest in the entire Mid-Atlantic area. And the booming area will need it, with thousands of new residents coming to the many high-rises popping up, and its 100,000 workers expected to double by 2050, the Washington Business Journal reports. The Whole Foods will be included in Phase 1 of the development, which will have a total of 945k SF of residential space, 154k SF of retail, a 112k SF movie theater, 400k SF of office space, and a one-acre park. When complete, The Boro will have 2,305 residential units, 1.3M SF of offices, 250k SF of hotel space, and 316k SF of retail and entertainment. [WBJ]
