Arlington officials hoped Nestlé's move to Rosslyn might turn the area into a hub for the food and beverage industry, and it appears that vision is beginning to come true.

The Grocery Manufacturing Association, the trade organization of which Nestlé is a member, is moving its HQ from DC's central business district to Potomac Tower in Rosslyn, the Washington Business Journal first reported.

The association has been in DC for 50 years, currently occupying 45k SF at 1350 Eye St. NW. It will reduce its footprint to 34k SF for its move to Brookfield Office Properties' 1001 19th St. North in Arlington. It will make the move across the river in 2018.

JLL's Juliana May, Creighton Armstrong and Robert Shue represented GMA in the deal, while Brookfield's Cy Kouhestani brokered the deal for the landlord. While the consolidation represents a net loss of space for the DC region, the deal is another one in the win column for Rosslyn.

“As the DC metro area office market has gotten stronger, we have seen a renewed interest in Rosslyn as companies seek engaging, urban neighborhoods that are easily accessible to their workforce and client base,” Kouhestani said in a release. “2017 has gotten off to a hot start, and we anticipate it will be a strong year for the metro office market.”
