Industrious is continuing its D.C.-area expansion with its sixth location, entering a Northern Virginia neighborhood without a large coworking market.

The New York-based coworking provider announced Wednesday it signed on at 2311 Wilson, a new office building Carr Properties developed in Arlington's Courthouse neighborhood.

The coworking space will occupy 25K SF on the third floor of the building and is expected to open in early 2020. Carr Properties broke ground on the project in 2016 after signing OPower as the anchor tenant. It has signed multiple additional leases and completed the building last year.

While Arlington has a large footprint of coworking spaces, Industrious will have relatively little competition in the Courthouse neighborhood. The only shared workspace provider in the neighborhood, according to Arlington Economic Development, is Source Office Suites, and none of the fast-growing coworking leaders have entered the neighborhood until Industrious.

Industrious entered the D.C. market in April 2018 with a Thomas Circle location, and Industrious CEO Jamie Hodari told Bisnow last year it plans to open eight locations in the region by the end of 2019. It has now signed deals for six D.C.-area spaces, including locations in Bethesda, Ballston, Tysons and Alexandria. The company has over 65 locations in 40 cities across the U.S.

"Our increasing NoVa presence well-positions Industrious to accommodate business growth and development across the region as we begin to see the Amazon effect take place," Industrious Mid-Atlantic area manager Joyce Oh said in a release.
