The General Services Administration has named the person who will oversee the federal government's real estate footprint in the D.C. region.
Scott Anderson, who most recently worked as George Washington University's director of services delivery and property management, began his job Tuesday as the regional administrator of the GSA's National Capital Region.
The National Capital Region portfolio consists of 880 owned and leased buildings totaling 93M SF. Anderson replaces Julia Hudson, who served in the position since 2010.
The GSA's new administrator, Emily Murphy, was sworn in Dec. 12 after President Donald Trump nominated her in September. Public Buildings Commissioner Dan Mathews was appointed in July. With new leadership in place, the agency increased its leasing activity toward the end of the year, leading the D.C. area to experience its strongest quarter of overall net absorption in five years.
