PEGGY CROWLEY

Peggy Crowley’s path isn't traditional. The fourth-gen Washingtonian spent 30 years in healthcare as a nurse, a hospital administrator, and a healthcare lawyer before joining the industry in '05, she tells us. Peggy, who lives in the upper NW house she grew up in, was one of the founding members of J Street Development. She says became involved through co-founder Bruce Baschuk, after helping him set up Winners Lacrosse. When he asked her to come work for him, she teased that she didn't even know how to spell “real estate.” Almost 10 years later, as J Street COO, Peggy is involved in all aspects of the firm's property management, commercial sales and leasing, and development divisions. She’s also helping expand the firm’s work in multifamily. One of her career highlights: J Street's early role in developing NoMa, including 111 K St. She also enjoyed shepherding a client through a reverse 1031 exchange involving the sale of Jefferson Court and purchase of the US Mint building at 801 9th St. Her best lesson: Be flexible and always look for opportunities.
