Three top JLL capital markets brokers are jumping ship to join Avison Young's D.C. office.

Jonathan Goldstein, Wesley Boatwright and Michael Yavinsky, all previously managing directors at JLL, have effective immediately become principals at Avison Young. The team will work on mortgage brokerage, project-level equity raises and recapitalization deals.

“We are fortunate to have such a high-caliber team assist our company and our clients with investment-grade acquisitions as well as development and adaptive-reuse projects," Avison Young Managing Director Josh Peyton said in a release.

The team recently brokered Goldman Sachs' $233M recapitalization of Baltimore's Port Covington, the $5.5B, 266-acre project that Kevin Plank's Sagamore Development is building as the HQ for Under Armour. Since 2012, the team has executed a total of $6B in transactions, from bridge financing deals in Ballston and Tysons to loans in Pentagon City to financing in Bethesda to $267M office building loans in the central business district.

Boatwright had been at JLL since 2001, and before that he spent eight years at Walker & Dunlop, according to his LinkedIn profile. Yavinsky also previously worked at Walker & Dunlop, joining JLL in 2011. Goldstein joined JLL in 2010 from Cassidy & Pinkard Colliers, which later spun off and merged with Cushman & Wakefield.

“I’m a big believer in continuity, and it’s exciting to know that Wes, Mike and I will be able to work together for many more years under a rapidly expanding global brand,” Goldstein said. “In addition, Avison Young’s collaborative approach to every transaction — whether it’s a sale, recapitalization or financing — is closely aligned with my core principles."
