Latest Retail Highlights

There have been some significant retail movement lately, so we asked Colliers VP Sherman Scott what he's seeing. The deets:

  • Aquilini Investment Group acquired Toptable Group, the parent company of Whistler staple Araxi and Vancouver restaurants CinCin, Bluewater Café, West, and Thierry Chocolaterie.

  • Renovation starts this month on the Roots Athletica location on ever-evolving Robson Street.

  • Rumours persist that Japanese fashion giant Uniqlo will be opening stores in the Vancouver market as early as 2016.

"There will be more significant announcements in the near future," Scott tells us; the strongest demand is coming from luxury brands and “fast-fashion” retailers. (Fast fashion, we learned, has nothing to do with our taking three seconds to get dressed in the morning, paying no attention to what we've put on.)
