November Leases on Upswing

The total SF of space leased in November jumped by 23% year over year, according to the Toronto Real Estate Board. (Suddenly, it's not as easy to play hide and seek.) A total of 630k SF was leased in industrial, retail, and office properties last month, with industrial leading at 80% of deals (although that dipped from the 86% in November '12, suggesting more market diversity). TREB Commercial Division chair Cynthia Lai says fast economic growth and flat interest rates are positive signs that more companies will continue to lease space.
