Meanwhile, a survey by Colliers says office space design and location have become increasingly important for Canadian companies to attract and retain top talent. The 2014 Canadian Tenant Survey spoke with 225 real estate decision-makers across Canada. In designing space, cost control, business growth, staff well-being, and team collaboration emerged as key factors. Employees cited a 10-minute walking distance from public transportation as key in choosing a workplace location. “Fifty-nine percent of respondents identified that in their next relocation or renovation they will be adding more collaborative space or common-area space,” Colliers market intelligence analyst Curtis Scott tells us.
