The Olympics in Rio weren't the only games this month. Architecture and design specialist Mithun recently held its eighth annual games at its Seattle HQ, with employee teams competing in events such as Human Foosball, Pictionary Relay, Tug of War and Sailing with Ken.

Here's the "opening ceremony." Mithun partner Brendan Connolly tells us the company's designers are "always creative, and this energy inspires a collection of unusual but highly memorable events. And so far we haven’t lost anyone to injury or banning by international judges.” All game-winners received medals, many of which decorate staff cubicles or social media.

Here's the Tug of War (an event not seen in the big-deal Olympics since 1920). Creativity also went into rulemaking. Socks were required for the Tug of War, and as a "footnote," some team members chose to wear socks with rubber bands for traction, wear socks on just one foot, or pursue other twists of the rules.

The "closing ceremony" was a happy hour. Mithun is completing a number of design projects this year: the 200 Occidental office-over-retail in Seattle, the Perot Family Offices HQ in Dallas, a major student-life facility for UC-Irvine, and the innovative Louisiana Children’s Museum in New Orleans.
