The Flyway Will Offer 27 Residential Units And Ground-Level Commercial Space.

MainStreet Property Group LLC recently broke ground on Flyway, a five-story, mixed-use residential building project in Kenmore. The building includes 27 townhouse-style apartment homes and 5,700 SF of ground-floor commercial space. It is near the corner of NE 181st Street and 68th Avenue NE.

“We’re thrilled to begin construction on the Flyway,” MainStreet Property Group President Kelly Price said. “As Kenmore’s revitalization continues and its downtown further grows and expands, residents at our communities here are not only living — but thriving. We’re excited to bring even more residential, commercial and retail opportunities to the area as the Flyway ‘takes it up another notch’ for Kenmore living.”

Flyway's location allows residents to walk to services such as grocery stores, medical clinics, dining and the library. It includes 36 parking spaces and a rooftop patio with views of Lake Washington.

“Seeing our vision for downtown Kenmore coming to fruition is incredibly exciting,” Kenmore Mayor David Baker said in a statement. “MainStreet has been an incredible partner and it’s amazing to see the work they’ve done to revitalize this area. We’re very appreciative of their efforts and look forward to the completion of the Flyway.”

The development site was previously a mostly vacant strip mall.

“[MainStreet] has done an incredible job helping us realize our vision and delivering on what they’ve promised to create — a thriving, walkable downtown,” Kenmore City Manager Rob Karlinsey said in a statement.

MainStreet’s related company, GenCap Construction Corp., will be the general contractor. Dahlin Group Architecture Planning is the architect, and Lisa Wiggins is planning the interior design. The Blueline Group is the civil engineer. DCI Engineers is the structural engineer.

MainStreet is aiming to earn a LEED Gold certification and expects the project to be complete by February.
