Seattle Children's Research Institute is preparing to break ground at Stewart Street and Terry Avenue in Downtown Seattle on Building Cure, which will expand the institute's campus to nearly 1M SF. The facility will be to develop therapies for children with diseases such as cancer, type 1 diabetes and sickle cell anemia. Building Cure will include:
Research labs to develop cures and better treatments for childhood cancer. According to the institute, one prominent line of research there will be immunotherapy, which reprograms an immune system to fight cancer.
The Cure Factory facility, a manufacturing center that translates laboratory discoveries into cell therapies for patients using immunotherapy and gene therapy.
The Science Discovery Lab, a teaching lab and classrooms for children and teens, to help encourage students to pursue careers in STEM.
Indoor and outdoor community spaces, including a café for the public and a 225-seat auditorium for scientific dialogue.
