San Francisco's Historic Pier 70 has snagged retailer Restoration Hardware as its first tenant. Restoration Hardware plans to open a five-story, 60k SF showroom in the old Bethlehem Steel building (on the corner of Illinois and 20th streets).

Orton Development holds the master lease from the Port of San Francisco for eight buildings in the heart of Historic Pier 70. It's renovating the buildings for office and other commercial uses. The company is negotiating with a potential restaurant tenant and a company looking at light manufacturing and office space, according to SF Gate.

Forest City, which is developing the adjacent Pier 70 mixed-use project, is seeking city approval this year and hopes to begin construction in 2017. [SFG]
