Oculus VR, the $2B virtual reality startup owned by Facebook, is looking for office and production space in San Francisco.
The company has been reviewing spaces between 40k and 60k SF in areas such as SoMa and the Financial District, likely for its "Medium" team (engineers, designers and artists looking at virtual reality applications), according to the San Francisco Business Times. The company plans to start shipping virtual reality headsets early next year.
Oculus has 5k SF at 524 2nd St in SoMa, where its lease is set to expire in early 2017. The expansion of space in San Francisco would be notable for Facebook, which mainly has focused growth around its Menlo Park headquarters (employees started moving into the new 430k SF, Frank Gehry-designed campus in March, when Mark Zuckerberg posted the above shot to his Facebook page).
