Work Starts At KTGY's Locale @ State Street

Work has officially started at downtown Fremont’s first mixed-use development. The KTGY-designed Locale @ State Street offers 157 residential units and 21k SF in retail space.

The TOD project involves many stakeholders, including the City of Fremont, TMG Partners, Sares Regis Group and SummerHill Homes. “Our goal is to produce high-quality housing located near jobs, transportation and existing services,” says SummerHill CEO Robert Freed.

“The development team worked closely with the city to create a project that meets the city’s vision for active, pedestrian-oriented mixed-use destination," says KTGY associate principal Jessica Musick.

Developing close to transport hubs such as BART has gained in popularity. Municipal governments support these transit-oriented developments since they are thought to foster revitalization around areas near the transit centers.
