The former Home restaurant on the corner of Market and Church streets would be razed and a new apartment building put in its place if plans going before the San Francisco Planning Commission are approved next week.

The proposed development at 2100 Market St would include 62 apartments (six studios, 31 one-bedrooms and 25 two-bedrooms) and 2,600 SF for a ground-floor restaurant on the corner. Seven of the units will be below-market rate. Instead of the parking garage in the original plan, the new proposal includes bike storage, according to SocketSite. The Bay Area has been booming for multifamily and California is forecast to reach a 25-year high for construction in the next three years.

The property has sat vacant since 2011. Chipotle had planned to renovate the existing building, but the planning commission rejected those plans. The new proposal is from Brian Spiers Development and designed by Arquitectonica. [SS]
